AP A ROLEMODEL FOR INDIA

Ap, A Role Model: Ysr
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said an effective management of water resources, created by abundant rainfall and a foolproof system of disaster management in Andhra Pradesh had resulted in successfully driving away droughts in the last four-and-a-half years.
The Chief Minister pointed that AP had emerged as a role-model for other States for its disaster management system to prevent human loss and contain suffering of those living in low-lying areas and in the coastal belt.
He was reviewing the disaster management preparedness of the State with officials and his Cabinet colleagues in the backdrop of the continuous heavy rainfall in the State under the influence of the low pressure in the Bay of Bengal.
He said Andhra Pradesh had set a roadmap of early warning systems and mechanisms against cyclones and Tsunamis on the East Coast with the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment at the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) at Hyderabad
