Look Sharp, Ysr Tells Revenue Babu14 Sep 2008 05:11:00 AM ISTHYDERABAD: Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has directed revenue officials to be vigilant and take all steps to mitigate the problems of people affected by the heavy rain and floods in the State.
At a review meeting here today, the Chief Minister directed the officials to take all measures to prevent the outbreak of epidemics and monitor post-rescue operations closely. He also instructed the officials to restore power and traffic immediately.
The total loss of life was put at 13, with eight deaths reported from West Godavari district, two from Visakhapatnam, three each in Nalgonda and Karimnagar and one each in Anantapur and Ranga Reddy districts.
As many as 92 houses were damaged due to rain.
Meanwhile, the Vamsadhara at Gotta Barrage has declined to the second warning level of 80,000 cusecs and the water discharge level too fell by noon today.
At Nagavali Old Bridge, the water level has reached the danger level, while the Nagavali at Thotapalli reservoir is steady at 40,000 cusecs. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Telangana in the next 24 hours, the officials said.
