MLC calls for stir on Arogyasri

Saturday , October 11, 2008

KADAPA: MLC and A.P. Agriculture Workers Union State general secretary Jalli Wilson on Monday called for a consistent agitation for proper implementation of Rajiv Arogyasri scheme, forest rights of girijans and employment guarantee scheme.
Addressing the union’s Rayalaseema-level regional sadassu at the CPI office here, he alleged that government lands were being encroached upon and usurped by landlords, businessmen and middlemen and sold, thereby depriving rural poor of land for agriculture and house sites.
Mr. Wilson demanded allotment of house sites in the fifth phase of land distribution to the poor who occupied lands in ‘Bhooporatam’. The Government was lax in implementing the Koneru Ranga Rao recommendations. In four phases of land distribution in the last four years, poor persons cultivating lands were given rights on 6.38 lakh acres of land and hence it was uncertain as to when it would meet the target of distributing one crore acres, he said. CPI Floor Leader in Assembly Chada Venkata Reddy inaugurated the sadassu.
