YSR chants unity mantra

Hyderabad, October 23: Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy has asked the East Godavari Congress leaders to sink their differences and put up a united show to take on opposition parties, including Praja Rajyam, in the next elections.
At a review meeting with the constituency-level leaders of Tuni, Pithapuram and Rampachodavaram (erstwhile Yellavaram ST) here on Wednesday night at the camp office, Dr. Reddy attributed the poor performance in these constituencies due to internal differences and non-cooperation for certain partymen. He wanted them to take forward the good work done by the Government in the last four years.
Minister of State for Defence M. M. Pallam Raju was made in charge of Tuni and Pithapuram constituencies while the Social Welfare Minister Pilli Subash Chandra Bose was asked to concentrate on Rampachodavaram. Mr. Bose was asked to tour the constituency one day in a week. The Chief Minister, according to sources, reportedly noted that the party had not won these seats after 1978. He said the 2004 poll results where the party won 18 out of the 21 seats could be replicated if every body put up a united effort. He cited the party’s spectacular performance in the municipal election, when the party won all the 30 wards in the Municipality. The seat is represented by former Speaker Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. Speaking to reporters, Mr. Pallam Raju said the Chief Minister brought all the mandal-level leaders of these segments on a common platform to resolve differences,if any. East Godavari District Congress Committee president and Zilla Parishad Chairman, Venugopal said the leaders assured that they would work hard to bag these seats.
