YSR showered with praises at public rally

Union Minister Renuka Chowdary driving a tractor, with Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy seated behind her in Khammam district on Sunday.B Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy arrived in style on a tractor chauffeured by Union Minister Renuka Chowdary to the public meeting held at Madhira constituency.
Reddy, as a part of his tour of Khammam district, visited the Madhira mandal and inaugurated the works for three road over bridges worth Rs 100 crore in Dendukuru village, besides laying the foundation for the Wyra reservoir modernisation works.
Speaking at the public meeting in Madhira town, the Chief Minister announced that a industrial centre would be started at Madhira by the AP Industrial Development Corporation (APIDC). He added that the degree college in Madhira would host students of the Science branches and promised that a full-fledged science section would be opened in the degree college before the next academic year.
“The State Government was spending Rs 4,256 crore in the Khammam district as a part of the Jalayagnam in constructing the Rajiv Sagar and Indira Sagar, which will eventually irrigate new ayacut of 3.4 lakh acres in the district alone,” Reddy said.
The Chief Minister also announced that the coal-based 600 MW Sattupalli power project being taken up by GENCO at an estimated cost of Rs 7,000 crore would be expedited.
Over 4 lakh houses would be allotted to the district under Rajiv Gruhakalpa, 1.2 lakh houses were already completed and the rest will be completed soon, he said.
“More than Rs 400 crore was spent in Khammam district, to ensure that each family earns Rs 2,000 every month,” Reddy said and added that the State Government would allot Rs 10 crore for each mandal to be given as loans to DWCRA groups from the next fiscal.
The public meeting, notwithstanding the promises made by the Chief Minister, had quite a few highlights with praises coming from unexpected quarters.
CPM legislator of Madhira constituency, Katta Venkatanarsiah, who was present on the dais, praised the Chief Minister and said: “He has been responsible for the overall development of the Madhira constituency.” He further added that the Chief Minister has always been very considerate in granting funds whenever approached and pointed that Reddy had even granted Rs 2 crore from the CM relief fund for the constituency.
Yet another surprise was Union Minister Renuka Chowdary going overboard in praising the CM, calling him the ‘real hero’. Coming down heavily on the PRP, she said that the party was full of actors fit only for acting and not for politics.
Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Minister Vanama Venkateswara Rao, Health Minister Sambhani Chandrasekhar, Tribal Welfare Minister Redyanaik, District Collector Sashi Bhushan, SP Mahesh Bhagat and the former MLA Younus Sultan were also present at the meeting.
