Diwakar drifting towards Jagan?

Diwakar drifting towards Jagan?

ANANTAPUR: Is JC Diwakar Reddy, who made vain attempts to get into the Kiran Kumar Reddy’s cabinet, inching closer to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy?Diwakar Reddy, who was once known as the strongman of Anantapur politics, is a loner now. The seven Congress MLAS, one MP and the zilla parishad chairperson do not see eye to eye with him. This apart, several second-rung leaders of the party have serious differences with the Tadipatri legislator.Diwakar Reddy, who was taken into the cabinet by YS Rajasekhara Reddy in 2004, was dropped in 2009 in the wake of reports that he had worked against the interests of several party nominees in the Assembly elections.Though Rajasekhara Reddy had promised him a berth during the cabinet expansion at a later stage, he had died in September 2009 before he could his promise. Not losing heart, Diwakar Reddy tried his best to get into the cabinet of K Rosaiah but, again, luck did not favour him. When Kiran Kumar Reddy was constituting his cabinet, Diwakar’s name was included in the list of ministers to be sworn in but was dropped at the eleventh hour after four MLAs and MP A Venkatrami Reddy threatened to resign if was given a berth in the cabinet.Diwakar Reddy had hoped that all his adversaries would jump on the Jagan bandwagon, leaving him with no competitors in the party. That was the reason why he used to say during the initial days of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Odarpu Yatra that all the Congress MLAs would be with Jagan Mohan Reddy sooner than later and that he alone would remain in the Congress in the district. But with indications that none of them is showing interest to sail along with Jagan Mohan Reddy, Diwakar Reddy is reportedly wondering whether it will serve any purpose for him if he continues in the Congress. According to sources close to him, this was the reason why he has been praising Jagan who is an anathema to the Congress leadership.
