Dharmana's brother plans to join YSR Congress Party

Dharmana's brother plans to join YSR

SRIKAKULAM: Local minister Dharmana Prasada Rao is facing a new challenge from within the family turf. Besides facing allegations of favouritism in granting quarry lease to his son Manohar Naidu and charges of corruption, Dharmana has a new problem on hand.

His brother Krishna Das, Congress MLA of Narasannapeta, is now planning to join Jaganmohan Reddy's YSR Congress party. "Krishna Das would join Jagan's party after the Kadapa bypolls," his close aides said. Sources said Krishna Das was assured by Jagan that his wife Padma Priya would be made the district president of YSR Congress.

Priya met Jagan during the Odarpu yatra in Narsipatnam in January this year. Priya and her son have been active in YSR Congress programmes in the district in the last three months. Not only Krishna Das, but Tekkali MLA Korle Bharathi and ZP chairperson Palavasa Karunakar will join the YSR Congress on April 27, sources said. All the three leaders have strong support base in three revenue divisions.

Already, there is a vertical split in the Narasannapet Congress with two ZPTCs and three MPPs going along with Dharmana, while two ZPTCs and one MPP are sailing with his brother, sources said. Sources said despite Dharmana and district Congress president and MP Killi Krupa Rani warning the party cadre against joining YSR Congress, supporters and followers of Das are set to join Jagan's party along with their leader.

Meanwhile, Union minister of state for steel A Sai Pratap's brother and Congress leader Harinadh joined YSR Congress in Kadapa on Monday. Harinadh who worked for his brother's win in last Lok Sabha elections in Rajampet constituency has good cadre following in some of the assembly constituencies. He joined the new party in the presence of party president Jaganmohan Reddy.
