Musi: YSR sets deadline
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has set March-end as the deadline for completion of the Musi river beautification project and daily supply of water to the remaining connections in the core city area and peripheral municipalities of L.B. Nagar and Kukatpally.
GHMC Commissioner S.P. Singh and Water Board Managing Director G. Asok Kumar incurred the wrath of the Chief Minister when they sought more time. “Nothing doing, I will take action against you if you don’t complete the works in stipulated time,” Mr. Reddy warned while inaugurating the 172 mld sewage treatment plant at Nagole here on Saturday.
The Chief Minister expressed his displeasure at the slow pace of Musi beautification project for the last three-and-a-half years. He asked Mr. Singh to expedite the cleaning up of the 4-km stretch between Chadarghat and Puranapul. Next, he pulled up Mr. Asok Kumar who wanted five months’ time to supply daily water to the remaining connections in Kukatpally and L.B. Nagar municipalities.
