YSJAGAN READY TO ENTER INTO POLITICS

A GOOD NEWS FOR ALL THE YOUTH OF CONGRESS

YS JAGAN

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's son Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is all set to plunge into active politics by contesting the next elections on a Congress ticket from the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency. Making way for his nephew's entry into electoral politics, Jaganmohan's uncle and Lok Sabha member from Kadapa Y S Vivekananda Reddy will not be seeking re-election.
In a statement issued in Kadapa late on Tuesday, Y.S.Vivekananda Reddy said several Congress activists were urging Jagan, as he is popularly known, to enter active politics as they were inspired by his social welfare programmes. Simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and state assembly are likely to be held in February-March next year.
Y.S.Vivekananda Reddy, the younger brother of the chief minister YSR , had quit the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat in August 2004, a few months after the elections, to enable his nephew to contest from Kadapa. The two-time MP had announced that he was resigning to settle down in the US with his daughter.
However, Congress president Smt. Sonia Gandhi refused to accept the resignation and asked Vivekananda Reddy to complete his term. Speculation aboutYS Jagan's entry into politics have been doing the rounds ever since his father became the Chief Minister in 2004. Rajasekhara Reddy had stated on a number of occasions that he would take the plunge at an appropriate time.
Now that Rajasekhara Reddy has nearly completed his term smoothly and is confident of getting another term, he has proposed Jagan's candidature for Kadapa seat. The Congress party leadership is not likely to reject his proposal this time.
Jagan, 35, an industrialist with extensive interests in mining, power generation, construction and cement, launched the Telugu daily Sakshi earlier this year and is all set to start a television channel early next year.
Kadapa district has been sanctioned several mega projects, including a steel plant, during the last four years. The state government also recently decided to set up the state's first nuclear electricity project in the district. Besides, Jagan is setting up several projects, including a major cement plant, in the district
