YSR launches ‘Local TV’

Hyderabad, October 08 : Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday evening expressed the hope that television channels endeavour continuously to dish out a judicious blend of news, information and entertainment.
He launched ‘Local TV’, the latest television channel to be aired, recalling that those running Vyjayanthi Televentures (P), including Managing Director Swapna Dutt, daughter of filmmaker Aswini Dutt and Chairman Syam Prasad Reddy (also CMD, Indu Projects) had assured him that Local TV would be a complete ‘info-tainment’ channel.
Dr. Reddy said what was required today was showcasing and broadcasting news and events in a positive manner and focussing on local news that people could relate to.
He said Local TV did appear to be a different concept and said that at a time when Andhra Pradesh was on ‘Pragati Patham’ (path to progress), positive news about development needed to be communicated to the people.
Others who spoke at the launch included thespian Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Samajwadi Party Member of Parliament Jayaprada.
They watched an 8-minute trailer giving glimpses of the channel’s content was shown.
Earlier, Local TV CEO I. Vishnuvardhan and Ms. Swapna Dutt said they had primarily packaged it as a ‘happy’ channel and one that would revolve around the common man, capturing the flavour of his immediate vicinity in any city or town.
