HYDERABAD: Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has expressed confidence of coming back to power with 230 Assembly and 36 Lok Sabha seats in the next general elections.
Speaking at the ‘shashtipoorthi’ celebrations of PCC president D Srinvvas in Nizamabad, he came down heavily on the Telugu Desam Party contending that the party did not have any place in people’s hearts, as it had lost credibility when it was in the power.
He praised the services of the APCC president D Srinivas and claimed that YS-DS pair was a hit combination Later he toured Nizamabad district and announced several sops.
A medical college with a 700 bed-hospital would be set up in the district. He said foundation stone for airport and IT park would be laid and added that the Government proposes to identify 12,000 acres land for this purpose.
Earlier he laid the foundation stone for the Nizamsagar canal modernisation works to be taken up at a cost of Rs 549 crore at Nizamasagar. Speaking on the occasion, he said that Nizasamsagar will be developed as a tourist spot.
Pending projects like Ali Sagar and Gutpa lift irrigation schemes were completed with an investment of Rs 600 crore during the Congress regime, he recalled. Irrigation facility for the upland areas of the district would be provided through Pranahita and Chevella lift irrigation scheme, he said.
He also laid the foundation stone for a bypass road in Nizamabad and inaugurated the Rajiv Gandhi stadium.
Greater Hyderabad Congress Party president D Nagendar felicitated the PCC president.
Speaker KR Suresh Reddy, ministers T Damodar Reddy, Shabber Ali and P Laxmaiah and MLAs and MLCs of the district attended the meeting
