HYDERABAD: Minister for Small Scale Industries Gollapalli Surya Rao on Sunday withdrew his controversial remarks against Panchayat Raj Minister J. C. Diwakar Reddy after he was reportedly pulled up by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
Mr. Surya Rao, who levelled serious charges of corruption against his Cabinet colleague at the East Godavari Zilla Parishad meeting on Saturday pertaining to sand ramps auction, handed over a written letter to the Chief Minister here.
Though a temporary truce was reached, Mr. Diwakar Reddy was said to be unhappy at the Minister’s conduct. Dr. Reddy summoned Mr. Rao along with the three-member ministerial committee comprising Finance Minister K. Rosaiah, J. Geetha Reddy and Koneru Ranga Rao. Taking a serious view, he reportedly faulted Mr. Surya Rao’s action.
The panel, which heard the version of the two Minsters separately and examined the report sent by the East Godavari Collector, gave a clean chit to Mr. Diwakar Reddy.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Rosaiah said there was no substance in the allegations. “The Chief Minister cautioned party leaders against resorting to such actions. They can air their views in party forums,” he quoted Dr. Reddy as telling Mr. Surya Rao.
“The issue is closed after the Chief Minister YSR took the letter and heard the two sides,” Mr. Rosaiah added.
Earlier, Mr. Diwakar Reddy complained to the Chief Minister that Mr. Surya Rao had resorted to character assassination.
“Dr. YSRAJASEKHAR Reddy nodded his head and it is left to him to take further action,” he told reporters. Mr. Surya Rao left the Camp Office without speaking to the media.
