YSR slams Chiranjeevi
Intensifying his attack on actor-turned-politician Chiranjeevi, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on Monday alleged that the Praja Rajyam Party founder lacked the spirit of social service.
"He (Chiranjeevi) has not done anything for his native village in West Godavari district though he was a superstar for three decades. He grew up in that region and still he says he does not have anyone there," the CM said.
"What to expect from a person who has not done anything for his own village? Does he have any spirit of social service?" Reddy asked.
Reddy was addressing a meeting of Congress functionaries in Prakasam district before inaugurating the Gundlakamma irrigation project.
The Congress leader launched a broadside against Chiranjeevi yesterday, saying that the Praja Rajyam founder has "degenerated politics."
"Where are you leading politics by twirling your moustache and patting your thighs," the Chief Minister questioned angrily, referring to Chiranjeevi's gestures during a road show in Reddy's hometown Pulivendula last week.
"Do those gestures denote the 'change' you are talking about. Politics is not films where one man thrashes 10 persons," he observed.
