‘Crop holiday' unfortunate: Jagan

  ‘Crop holiday' unfortunate: Jagan

Ruling Congress party has totally forgotten the welfare of the farmers and due to lack of minimum support price for paddy they had to resort to a ‘Crop Holiday', the YSR Congress founder and Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has said.

Promising a golden rule when the YSR Congress party comes to power, he told villagers at Singarayapalem near here during 25th day of his Odarpu Yatra in the district, that the Government would buy entire quantum of paddy at MSP. “The YSR must be very unhappy up there in the heaven when he sees that even pavala vaddi scheme was not being implemented by the present Congress Government,” Mr. Jagan added.

The former Chief Minister had made all efforts to make the agriculture activity a win-win proposition for the farmers and gave all possible help in the form power subsidy and implementing irrigation projects, but the present Government had done away with all those schemes, he observed.

Taking a dig at the discontinuation of scholarship scheme for students, he promised to get all the children best possible education at the Government cost when his party comes to power. All parents would be given Rs.500 per child when they send them for studies to school or colleges, he assured the villagers.

He said he had been bringing all the problems of the farmers to the notice of the Centre and Prime Minister either meeting him directly or through letters, but unfortunately the importance YSR gave to farming, education and health of people, this Government was not continuing, he added.

There were hundreds of people thronging at each village and everyone tried to shake hands with him. Some couples made him bless their kids. He addressed a large public meeting at Kaikaluru.
