Jagan’s mother turns emotional

Jagan’s mother turns emotional

Ms Y.S. Vijayalakshmi, the lone YSR Congress MLA, on Monday made an emotional appeal to detractors of her husband and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy to stop talking ill of him. Maintaining that the Central Bureau of Investigation and the courts were dealing with allegations of corruption against her husband and son, Ms Vijayalakshmi said anyone having evidence against the two could approach those agencies instead of carrying out a vilification campaign.

In her maiden speech, which the members listened to with rapt attention, Ms Vijayalakshmi expressed anguish over the Congress resorting to witch-hunting after forcing the exit of YSR’s family from the party. “Why the party for which YSR struggled all through his life is silent when his name was included in the FIR?'” she asked. She dismissed the Congress contention that her son wants to be Chief Minister. “All that he requested Ms Sonia Gandhi for is to allow him to continue the Vodarpu yatra,” she said.

Ms Vijayalakshmi defended her party’s decision to support the no-confidence motion despite it being introduced by the TD as the plight of farmers will further worsen if this government is allowed to rule. Describing the no-confidence motion as historical, she appealed to all MLAs who adore the departed leader to vote against the government. As soon as her speech was over, PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana rose to reply. It was Mr Jagan Mohan’s greed for the post that made him quit the party, he said. He wondered how Ms Vijayalakshmi could support a motion moved by Mr Naidu.
