YSR to hold talks with district-level leaders
HYDERABAD: Even as all the Opposition parties are striving to forge an alliance in the coming elections, the ruling party is concentrating on the Assembly segments where it was defeated in the last elections. Besides, it is also focussing on the seats won by the Opposition in the last elections. The party has identified about 80 Assembly segments as ‘problematic’, including Kuppam being represented by former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
As part of the strategy to win back the seats presently occupied by Opposition members, Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy has decided to convene constituency-wise meetings to review the prevailing political situation, strengths and weaknesses of the Congress party etc. According to sources, Reddy will discuss the political strategy to be adopted in achieving the set goal. Ex-MLAs, defeated candidates, MPs, DCC presidents, constituencylevel leaders and others would be invited for these meetings.
The Chief Minister YSR has recently convened two separate meetings with the leaders of Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.
It may be recalled that the two sitting Congress MLAs M Shashidhar Reddy and P Vishnuvardhan Reddy have expressed dissatisfaction for not being invited to these review meetings.
The Chief Minister who will return to the city tomorrow evening after attending the NDC meeting in New Delhi today, will start conducting constituency- wise review meetings from October 18.
Initially, segments of Railway Kodur, Rajampet, Rayachoti and Kamalapuram in Kadapa district will be taken up for discussion. All leaders from the district and others concerned have been invited for the meeting. If necessary, PCC chief Srinivas will have separate meetings with the leaders concerned
