Andhra to observe 2009 as total welfare year: YSR
Hyderabad , Jan 1 Andhra Pradesh will introduce a plethora of schemes in 2009 as part of its plans to observe it as&apostotal welfare year&apos, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today said.
Talking to reporters on New Year&aposs Day, YSR said his government&aposs priority would be given to complete all the welfare programmes launched during the past four-and-a-half years and also initiate new schemes.
"Our government has been giving top priority to both development and welfare in equal measure. We have made rapid strides on both the fronts and become the envy of all other states in the country,"the chief minister said.
Prime among the welfare programmes that the government would launch in 2009 would be the pension scheme for women members of self-help groups (SHGs).
With the assembly polls in the state likely in April or May, YSR said more welfare schemes would be announced soon
